Bridging the Gap for the Child

February 9, 2027 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This session will empower families and advocates with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to navigate the IEP and Section 504 processes and champion the success of their scholars. Participants will explore the key differences between an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and a Section 504 Plan, gain insight into eligibility requirements, and learn how these supports can open doors to meaningful access, opportunity, and achievement in education.

Through an interactive exploration of student rights, evaluation procedures, accommodations, services, and family participation, participants will discover how to become informed partners in the educational journey. The session will highlight essential advocacy strategies, including asking effective questions, collaborating with school teams, understanding procedural safeguards, and ensuring scholars receive the individualized support they need to thrive.

By the conclusion of the session, participants will feel equipped to confidently advocate for their scholars, navigate educational systems with greater understanding, and take an active role in creating pathways for academic growth, inclusion, and success.
